Best Friends

What fun to have moments with Tom Bodett and Roy Blount, Jr. and with David Blistein and Ken Burns, courtesy of the wonderful Brattleboro Literary Festival.  Isn’t this what it’s all about?

It’s been and continues to be a wonderful year, by the way.  To better keep up with all I’m up to, please follow me @BeowulfSheehan on Twitter!  Thank you!

Pilobolus dance company show “Shadowland” in VIEW Magazine

Pilobolus’ show “Shadowland” is selling out across Europe this summer, and I was thrilled to photograph the group before it left the States for the July 2011 issue of VIEW, the photography-first monthly companion to Germany’s Stern Magazine.  This spectacle of light and dance plays Berlin this week before performing in Cologne and Stuttgart in August.  Enjoy the show if you go.

End It All by Beans

Beans, part of the reunited fearsome foursome that are Anti-Pop Consortium (toured as the opener for Massive Attack in 2010), released his fifth album in February.  Giant steps in hip-hop by the sonic auter Beans, cover and promotional art by Beowulf.  The honor was mine.  Check the lp or cd at your local great music store today.

Happy holidays

Talea Ensemble by Beowulf Sheehan

I had the honor and pleasure of photographing the avant-garde group Talea Ensemble a bit ago.  Classically-trained alumni of the likes of the National Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, Oberlin, Harvard, and Columbia, the ensemble collectively works to further the genre with new composers, new instruments, and new sounds.  The ensemble is often on the road, next playing in New York at the Scandinavian House on January 21, 2011.

My deepest thanks to Talea Ensemble, Rebecca Hickey (hair and makeup), and Stephen Reiss (assistant) for such a wonderful production.
